Hello, and welcome! Since crocheting is a great way to start the new year, after the basic leg warmers, the basic crochet cowl and the basic fingerless gloves, here is another very easy crochet project:
Just because crochet doesn't have to be difficult, and you can still make a lot of great, useful things even if you're just at beginner level.
I didn't write a full pattern for this project, so it's more a tutorial than anything else. Feel free to let me know in the comments in case you have any questions I can help you with.
Materials:
- wool or a wool blend yarn. I used the Rosários4 Invicta variegated yarn that you can see below, which is 51% wool and 49% acrylic. It comes in large 150 gram skeins and I used all of it until the end (I had just a little bit leftover since it wasn't enough to complete a row)
- a 4 mm crochet hook
Stitches used: chain, half double crochet (US crochet terms).
Construction: the scarf is crocheted lengthwise, so each row will be pretty long. As you are not turning your work around so much, I find that the scarves made this way are quicker to complete and look a lot neater.
Tutorial: chain as many chains as you need to have the scarf length you want. Honestly, I didn't count the number of chains I used, since I knew it was going to be such a large number it would be impossible to keep up with the counting on every row.
Row 1: Starting on the second chain from hook, add one half double crochet over each chain until the end of the row.
Rows 2 until the end: Chain two add one half double crochet over each stitch from the previous row. Add as many chains as you need to get to the width you want your scarf to have.
Weave in ends and your new scarf is ready to be used.
Have fun, and happy Wednesday!
