Hello, and welcome! Today I'm sharing the lid I made for the basket of daughter's new bicycle.
A bit of the backstory: my daughter's main birthday gift this year was a new bicycle, one that came with a cute basket, great to carry all sorts of things around. The problem? There was nothing to hold stuff in, so with every bump of the road her water bottle and anything else she decided to put in the basket kept jumping up and down or even falling off.
I proposed to add some velcro, or even to create some sort of drawstring storage bag, but my daughter wanted a simple lid.
To come up with a lid on the go I cut a piece of plastic in the same shape as the top of the basket...
...and then just covered the plastic with fabric - two pieces sewn together, with the plastic in between and several sets of ribbons in a matching color to tie around the basket.
The lid is just perfect to keep everything in while we're out and about, and because there are so many ribbons, in can be opened from different angles, which makes it very easy to use.
Here's how the lid (and basket) look like on the bicycle:
Happy Tuesday!

Great idea! Is the lid stiff or flexible so you can bend it back to get into it?
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's more or less flexible because the plastic does bend a little. Or you can untie part of the ties and lift the lid (the rest of the ties work like hinges).
DeleteThis is so creative! It looks beautiful & is useful. Thanks for sharing on Traffic Jam Weekend & Happiness is Homemade at LifeasaLEOWife.com!
