Hello, and welcome! Remember the kitchen towels in a jar gift set I made earlier this year? Well, now I used the same concept, but replaced the kitchen towels with a set of cute reusable face scrubbies. And the bonus? The jar itself works wonderfully to keep in the bathroom and store the clean scrubbies, so not even the package is wasted!
Want to make one too? Here's the how to:
What you need:
- a medium sized glass jar or mason jar - you can perfectly upcycle a glass jar you already have at home, as I did. Ideally, it should be slightly wider than the scrubbies. Also, don't pick a very high jar, as it will then become difficult to reach the scrubbies at the bottom.
- reusable face scrubbies - check my tutorial here
- an extra circle of matching fabric (large enough to cover the lid of your jar with a few centimeters to spare) and a piece of ribbon or yarn to tie a bow over the neck of the jar - this is optional and you only really need it if you're upcycling a jar with an ugly lid that needs to be covered, but personally I think it looks great anyway.
Once you have all the scrubbies made, you just need to pack them inside the jar...
...and work on finishing the lid. I glued the lid in the center of the extra circle of fabric (after trimming the edges with pinking shears to avoid fraying) and then glued the fabric over the sides too. Alternatively, you can also paint the lid - but using matching fabric makes for a nicer set, in my opinion.
And that's basically it. Put the lid in place and tie the ribbon or piece of yarn in place. Add a pretty gift tag and your gift in a jar is ready!
Happy Wednesday!
