Hello, and welcome! Remember the solid granny square tutorial I posted here a couple of weeks ago? Well, in order to film and write the tutorial I actually had to crochet a solid granny square (obviously!), and then never bothered to frog it. It lived in my desk for sometime, until I finally figured out what to do with it.
To make the solid granny square, read my other post here.
Once you have your granny square, to turn it into a little jewelry organizer (or coin pouch), you will need a piece of fabric slightly larger than the square (you should have a margin of approximately 1.5 cm/0.5 inches all around), sewing thread in a matching color and a small button.
First, place the fabric over the granny square, wrong sides together, and fold the edges inwards. Pin in place, if necessary.
Then sew the fabric to the granny square (hand sewing is the best option, in my opinion).
Sew all around, as close to the edge as possible, but making sure that at least one of the corner hoops is free of fabric, as this will be your button casing:
Then fold three of the corners towards the center (making sure the corner with the "free" loop is not folded:
Sew the folded corners together to create an envelope:
Sew the button in place, as shown:
Ad that's it, your little pouch is finished! Here's how it should look, front and back:
And now you just have to put it to use!
I'm now testing this method with a larger granny square, to make a bigger pouch, and I'll let you all know how it goes.
Have fun, and happy Tuesday!
