Mid-century modern and retro are my favorite design trends for kitchens (and yes, I know they are technically not exactly the same, but I always lump them together in my head). So today I'm sharing here two mood boards with inspiration - one in pastel green shades and another in earth tones:
No, I'm not remodeling our kitchen right now (though some days I wish I was), and since we live in an apartment, a large part of the whole large windows open kitchen concept would probably be lost anyway.
But...it's always nice to have ideas, and I especially love to organize them (and share them too).
Although green is not my favorite color at all, I do think it looks lovely in a kitchen, especially in pastel shades. This, added to the light and the pretty flowers and plants added, makes the kitchen look like an extension of a garden in spring. I would totally love to cook there, wouldn't you?
And honestly, earth tones work just as great. They remind me a lot of my grandparents' house in the country - and who knows, maybe one day I'll get to remodel that kitchen.
In case you're interested in learning more about mid-century modern kitchen design, I find the book below a great resource - worth going through it just for the photos of beautiful kitchens included:
