Summer embroidery zipper pouch

Hello, and welcome! Sometime last year I shared here a free embroidery pattern that I named "summer drink". Maybe I should have named it "summer cocktail" instead, I even debated going back and changing it, but what is done is done, so "summer drink" it stayed.

In any case, the embroidery lived in its little hoop and for over a year decorated my sewing space. Recently I've reorganized a bit and decided to remove the hoop. But the embroidery looked so much fun I decided to find another use for it and turned it into a summer zipper pouch instead.

This was the original embroidery:

You can find and download the pattern here.

Now I removed it from he hoop, cut the fabric into a square, and added a bit of fabric to each of the sides:

Then I cut three similar pieces of fabric (one for the back of pouch and two for the lining) and added a matching zipper (you can find a basic zipper pouch tutorial here).

And here's the finished pouch, just in time for our beach vacation in a couple of weeks:

Overall, this was a pretty quick project, and a great way to use an old embroidery I didn't want in a hoop anymore.

Have fun, and happy Tuesday!
