Basic Mesh Kitchen Cloth - free crochet pattern

Hello, and welcome!

If you've been visiting a while, you already know I love using crochet kitchen cloths: they are easy to wash and dry and much better than any store bought cloths. Besides, they are eco-friendly, last longer and, therefore, are budget friendly too.

So today I'm bringing you a new pattern: a mesh cloth, that is very, very easy and quick to make - and even easier to wash and dry than the others.

I used cotton yarn leftover from another project and a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

Stitches used:
Chain
Double Crochet

Pattern:

Row 1: chain 66 (or a multiple of 3 + 1 + 2, if you want to adjust the size). Starting on the second chain from hook, add one double crochet over each chain, until the end of the row (63 stitches, plus the initial chain).

Row 2: chain 4, skip two stitches, double crochet on the following stitch, *chain two, skip two stitches, double crochet on the following stitch.* Repeat the pattern between * until the end of the row. You should finish with a double crochet.

Row 3: chain 4, double crochet over the double crochet from previous row (skipping the chains), *chain two, double crochet over the double crochet from previous row.* Repeat the pattern between * until the end of the row. You should finish with a double crochet.

Rows 4 - 29: repeat row 3 (add more rows if you want your kitchen cloth longer).

Row 30: Chain 2, then add two double crochets over the chains from previous row and one double crochet over the double crochets from previous row (so you will have a complete row of double crochets, replicating row 1).

Cut the yarn, weave in ends, and your new mesh kitchen cloth is ready do be used!

You can make these dishcloths any size you want by adjusting the number of initial chains and the number of rows, and while they are very useful in our own kitchens, they are a great (and useful) homemade gift too!
