The Happy Hour Dishcloth - free crochet pattern

Hello, and welcome! Today I'm sharing a brand new crochet pattern. Personally I love using handmade cotton dishcloths - they are easy to wash and dry and much better than any store bought dishcloth, and since I always have cotton yarn around I've been making lots for these (for me and for family and friends too).

I used cotton yarn leftovers from other projects and a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

Stitches used:
Double Crochet
Treble Crochet

Row 1: chain 54 (or a multiple of 5 + 2 + 2, if you want to adjust the size). Starting on the third chain from hook, add one double crochet over each chain, until the end of the row.

Row 2: chain 3 (counts as a stitch), *skip one stitch, then add four double crochets over the next four stitches from previous row. Go back and add one treble crochet over the first stitch you skipped.* Repeat the pattern between * until the end of the row. Finish with a double crochet over the last stitch from the previous row. You will now have ten groups of criss-crossed stitches (each group with four double crochets and one treble crochet), plus the initial chain and the final double crochet.

Row 3: chain 3, and then add one double crochet over each stitch from previous row.

From here onwards, alternate rows 2 and 3 until you reach your desired length. The last row should be a row of double crochets (same as row 3, to match your initial row).

The dishcloths pictured here are both made with 23 rows in total.

You can make these dishcloths any size you want, they come together pretty quickly and make a great (and useful) homemade gift too!

      Have fun, and happy Tuesday!
