DIY Crochet Heart Keychain - with video tutorial!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Originally I intended to publish this quick tutorial before today but I just didn't have enough time to put together the video tutorial and write the post, so it comes as a celebration of Valentine's Day instead.

In any case, this is a very fun project that can really be made as a gift for any occasion!

What you need:
  • yarn - I used 100% cotton
  • crochet hook - I used a size E/3.5mm hook
  • a key ring (preferably one with a little chain attached)
  • a darning needle
  • scissors

The crochet heart was made using my tutorial, which you can find here. Don't weave in ends because you'll be using them to attach the heart to the key ring.

Once your heart is done, all you need to do is attach it to the key ring. If you have a key ring with the small chain attached use the yarn ends to tie the heart to the chain, and then weave in the remaining yarn. If you just have a basic key ring (with no chain), then you can use the yarn ends to hang the heart on the key ring.

In the video tutorial (below) I have included both the instructions to crochet the heart and the how-to to attach the heart to the key ring:

    Have fun, and happy Monday!

    1. Years ago, I set myself on a mission (daughter was born on Valentine's) to make a hundred of these in all the colors of the rainbow. It was a merry sight! This is lovely!

      1. I initially made these hearts as decor for Valentine's Day, but then thought I they could be used in other ways too...
