From buying gifts to having to prepare for family gatherings, the holiday season can get pretty stressful. That’s why self-care is extremely important, especially during these winter months.

Thankfully, we’ve come up with five different things you can do with your bathroom or spa to step up your self-care game and keep your mind and body healthy. We’ve also included some do-it-yourself printables to make this process even easier.
1. Hang Bathroom Wall Art
It may not be the first thing on your mind, but having barren bathroom walls might be hampering your self-care sessions. Putting up some art on the wall will give your bathroom a more personalized feeling and put you in a more relaxed mood.
When picking your art, go for more soothing and relaxing images, such as plants, water, or natural environments. You could also go the easy way and print out these spa wall art printables that we’ve included.
2. Don’t Forget Music
No spa day experience is complete without the right music. You could go all out and install speakers in your bathroom walls (or even ceiling), or you could just buy a good quality standalone speaker to use for your spa.
The right music can make a big difference! Some suggestions that we have are relaxing jazz, classical, or any sort of meditation music. We also highly recommend using ambient sounds, such as the sounds of a forest, river, or other features of nature. These sounds can add so much to your experience.
3. Use Candles
There’s a reason why professional spas use candles. Having a soothing, relaxing scent fill the room will get you as close as you can to that professional experience, right at home! Find the right scent for you and light several of those candles around your bathroom. Some especially soothing scent ideas are lavender, rosemary, and vanilla.
For your candles, we’ve included punny and relaxing labels to remind yourself to not take everything so seriously and to unwind.
4. Utilize Natural Light
Almost everyone knows that natural light can improve a person’s mood and (literally) brighten their day. If you want to lift your spirits and make your bathroom look bigger and more inviting, use clear windows that will allow in as much light as possible. If you want, consider installing a skylight or wider windows to get even more natural light into your bathroom.
5. Make A DIY Face Mask
Face masks aren’t just hydrating and healthy for your skin, they’re also a great way to relax and unwind from the day’s stresses. There are an almost endless variety of face masks that you can use or create, all with different uses and effects.
Through this link you’ll find the download for a face mask printable with four different masks for exfoliating, moisturizing, brightening, and unclogging pores.
These five ideas to upgrade your spa and step up your self-care game are just a few of many that you can do. For these and 35 other spa bathroom ideas, check out this article from Angi.
Happy Thursday, and Happy Holidays!
