Summer crafts for kids: pipe cleaners keychains

If you've read my previous post on having kids making their own summer notebooks, you already know I'm on a quest to find simple crafts my kids can do by themselves to stay occupied this summer.

This time, we tried keychains made with colorful pipe cleaners. Find out how below. 

We started with two pipe cleaners of different colors and twisted them together:

And then we rolled the pipe cleaners together, as if creating a snail, adding a bit of glue to keep everything in place, and leaving a bit of pipe cleaner at the top (that will go around the key ring):

And then all that was left to do was to add the key ring, fold the edge of the pipe cleaner over it and add just a bit more glue:

And that's it. Since then my kids have been making a few more of these in different colors saying they will add them to the zippers of their backpacks and pencil cases and give a few to their friends as well.
