Hello, and welcome. Today I'm showing here an easy way to update and refashion a skirt.
This skirt belongs to my daughter. Originally it was a balloon style, with a somewhat heavy lining. It fits her waist well, but it was too short already, and with the lining would be too hot for summer anyway (not to mention it always looks wrinkled no matter how much I iron it...).
To try to make it wearable for some time more, I removed the lining altogether. And then I added a strip of fabric at the bottom (my daughter chose the fabric).
Here it is, just with the first seam:
The fabric was folded inwards, with the other edge hand sewn in place (still pending some ironing...)
And that was it. Overall, it took me just a little over an hour to complete it, even with the hand sewing.
(I also removed the bow at the waist, but that was just a detail).
My daughter is loving her "new" skirt and now she gets to wear it during this summer too.
So Cute! Thank you for sharing.
