New DIY hygienic pads set

Trying reusable hygienic pads was something I'd been thinking about for quite some time. Last year, while under lockdown, I decided it was the perfect time to give it a try. So I set out to make my own reusable pads (because, obviously, why buy when you can make them yourself?).

After a few tries, I came up with a pattern that worked for me. You can find my tutorial (and the downloadable pattern) here

Later I decided to test other lining alternatives too. Here you can find my post about using terry cloth as lining for the pads.

At this point in time I'm proud to say that I have totally made the switch and I haven't been using store bought pads in months.

So, when told this story to a friend, she wanted to try reusable pads too. She's planning to order them online, but I promised I would make her a test set first, to see if it's something she could get used to before actually spending money.

So here is the set I made for her:

I used the terry cloth lined version, at her request, but the pattern is the same you can find in my original post

I'm comfortable making the pads for myself but not so much making then for someone else, so I have no plans to create any more of these sets, at least not for now...

  1. That's fabulous! So proud of you for totally making the switch! I keep saying I'm going to make my own, then not doing it. I procrastinate... A lot....

    1. It took a long time for me too. Mostly my excuse (to myself) was that I was working out of the house and it wasn't practical. Since I've been mostly working at home this past year, I really had to try. My advice is to go slowly - start with just a small set, like this one, and see what works for you and what doesn't. You can do it!
