Remember the shorts I upcycled recently? Well, last weekend I was working on a new pair, and this time I embellished them with some vintage trim (from a box of leftovers that belonged to my grandmother).
This is something I love doing - not only do the shorts look much better (and unique too) but they also last longer when you have fast growing kids (the ribbons and trims add that extra bit of length that will make them wearable one more season).
This is what I started with:
The hem of the shorts was originally folded upwards twice, but I let it down (again, to add more length).
The top end of the trim had this wavy pattern, and was ulnhemmed (maybe it had already been removed or cut from somewhere else?), so I decided to sew it bias-tape like (sewing first from the wrong side, and them turning it over to top stitch)
Overall, they turned out pretty well for such a quick project. I have a few more shorts I need to work through in a similar way, so stay tuned.
This is a cute refashion!
