Mini Easter Crochet Basket

I made this mini Easter basket for my daughter, and decided to share it here in case anyone wants one too :)

Here's the how to:

I used a 3.0 crochet hook and bits of cotton yarn in two colors.

Row 1 - on a magic ring, chain 2 and then add 11 more double crochets into the ring (12 stitches in total). Slip stitch to join.

Row 2 - chain two, double crochet on the same stitch from previous row. Add two double crochets over each stitch from row 1 (24 stitches in total). Slip stitch to join.

Row 3 - chain 2, double crochet over every stitch from previous row. Slip stitch to join (24 stitches in total).

Row 4 - repeat row 3. You can change colors like I did or stick to the same color.

Row 5 - return to your original color (if you've changed colors for row 4). Single crochet over every stitch from previous row (24 stitches in total). Slip stitch to join.

Now you need to add the handle. Without breaking your yarn, chain 16 and slip stitch to join to the opposite side of the basket.

Add more or less chains if you want a longer or a smaller handle. To complete the handle, return to where you started the chain by adding one single crochet over each chain. Slip stitch to join, cut the yarn and weave in ends. By now your little basket will look like this:

Optional: add small bows at the base of the handle (I threaded the blue yarn though the crochet with a needle and then tied the bow in place).

Now make a batch of these (they come together pretty quickly) and have fun!
