Hello, and welcome. Today I'm going to show you to make a lovely felt pouch set.
One of the pouches closes with a snap, another with a zipper, but both are very easy to make. And go perfectly well together.
What you need:
- a piece of felt. Mine was a 30 x 30 cm square of blue and white polkadots felt. I cut both purses from this square but sizes are really up to you.
- One set of plastic snaps
- One zipper in a matching color
- Sewing thread
- One tassel (optional)
Here are the two pieces I cut from the felt square:
How to make the pouch with the snap closure:
This is the easiest of the two. Using the smaller bit of felt I cut from the square (see above) I folded part of it as shown below, to create a sort of envelope, and pinned in place:
The next step is to sew the sides:
And then add the snaps:
How to make the pouch with the snap closure:
I made this zipper pouch with the larger bit of felt cut from the original square. I divided it into two smaller pieces, one slightly larger than the other, as shown below:
Then I cut the smaller of the pieces in two again, like in the photo below:
The zipper was sewn to each of the two pieces above, in turn:
And then I placed the piece with the zipper on top of the other initial felt piece, right sides together, and added a seam all around. Remember to leave the zipper half open at this stage, because you will be turning your pouch inside out through the zipper opening. Trim off any excess felt and zipper after sewing.
Turn inside out and your zipper pouch is ready! Add a tassel to the zipper if you want:
And that's it! Here are the two pouches together:

Have fun and happy Monday!
