Sewing trinkets box with pincushion (from an upcycled tin can)

Hello, and welcome to another Tuesday. A few weeks ago I shared a quick tin can upcycle, that I turned into a pencil holder for my daughter, and back then I promised I had another upcycled can to share. So today (finally!) I'm going to show off my new box for sewing trinkets with a pincushion on top.

I started with a tin can that came with a plastic lid.

I cut a piece of felt large enough to go all around the can (with a little extra to spare) and glued it in place (to overlap when gluing):

Then I cut a circle of fabric (slightly larger than the lid) and glued a bunch of polyester filling over the lid:

I placed the fabric over the polyester filling and glued it over the edge of the lid. And then, for a prettier finishing, I added a bit of ribbon in a matching color:

And finally, because I never miss an opportunity to embellish things a bit, I glued a fabric yo-yo with a pretty button over the side of the upclycled can:

It's a great storage for all the little bits and pieces I used to have spread all over my sewing table, and now our spare room (which I use as my craft room unless we have guests staying with us) looks much more organized:

    1. These are great to store all those small things we always have around. I'm definitely making more. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
