Backyard Picnic Games for the Whole Family — Free Printables

Travel and vacations might be on hold or a lot of us this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have just as much fun in your backyard.

Backyard Picnic Games for the Whole Family — Free Printables

If you have a backyard maybe you’ve already spent a lot of time outside catching up on some summer reading, dipping your toes in the pool or relaxing by the fire pit. Why not try a family picnic? Here are some unique printable games that you can easily set up in your backyard.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take them on a family camping trip and try them out with your other favorite camping games like nature scavenger hunts and flashlight tag. Or, if you're like us and don't have a backyard but balconies instead, you can also adapt the games and have fun too.

Lawn Battleship

You’ve probably played Bags (or Cornhole) countless times before. Spice it up a bit with this Battleship-themed bean bag toss game. Print out the battleships, scatter them in the grass and try to land bean bags on them to score points (or, if you already have a Cornhole set, try putting these Battleships directly on the set to score additional points).

Pin the Face on the Tree

What kid doesn’t love playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey at birthday parties? Try this slight variation called Pin the Face on the Tree. Cut out the fun eyes, noses and mouths and see who can make the funnier face on a tree (if there are no trees around, try taping these printables to the side of your home).

Targeted Dodgeball

If you have a lot of people at your family picnic, try targeted dodgeball. It works just like regular dodgeball, but, as a twist, you tape these targets onto your clothes. If people hit the “automatic loss” target, they automatically lose. If they hit the green targets, they score extra points (no cheating — the honor system is key here!).

Bottle Cap Curling

Play this game on your patio table (or at a picnic table on your camping trip). Simply print out these goals and play a variation of the olympic sport curling with bottle caps from your picnic meal. Flick the caps across the table and try to land them on the goals for points.

There’s still a good chunk of summer left! Adventure outside and host a family picnic that everyone will remember, or make up the most of what you have available to spend sometime outside having fun.
