Hello, and welcome. At the beginning of this new week I'm going to show you how to make corner bookmarks - the easy way, of course.
These bookmarks are very useful for book lovers (especially if they're like me and have more than one book going at the same time), but they also make a cute small gift. And if you need original party favors on the go, these are great too.
And they are really, really easy to make.
What you need:
- the pattern - download here
- bits of felt in contrasting colors. Use the thinnest felt you can get without it being too soft. If the felt is too thick, the bookmarks will be harder to use, and if it's too soft they will lose shape or fall off too quickly.
- sewing thread (or fabric glue, for a no-sew version)

- cut the felt according to the pattern. For each bookmark you should have one square and one triangle of felt, in contrasting colors (well, you can use the same color for both, but where's the fun in that?)
- place the triangle on top of the square, as shown below, and pin in place
- sew the two sides where both pieces of felt overlap, as close to the edge as you can (for the no-sew version, place a thin strip of fabric glue at the edge of two sides of the felt square and then press the triangle on top)
This is how they will look, front and back:
And this is how they will look when you use them:
Now make a zillion of them!
Happy Monday!

These are such a perfect idea! I give quite a few books as gifts throughout the year, and I can't wait to make a bunch of these to include wth the books! I love this idea!Thank you for sharing at Celebrate It!
ReplyDeleteThe felt is it the stiff felt?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is. It's better for this kind of projects because it holds its shape.
