I made this spring bag set for my mother's birthday last week. As I was pressed for time and trying to finish it at the last minute, I didn't take a lot of photos of the work in progress, so there isn't s a specific tutorial for this bag set - however, a combination of several tutorials I've posted here over the years will give you an idea of how I made it.
The set is composed of three pieces - the bag itself, a small zippered pouch and a key chain with my mother's initials embroidered.
The bag was made following the lined tote bag process, with a few differences:
1) I changed the measurements a bit to adjust to the size I wanted
2) I added an inner pocket - to see how I made it you can check step one of my the little girl bag tutorial
3) I inserted a piece of ribbon withing the lining seam on one side, to clip the zippered purse in
4) I added batting between the bag fabric and the lining
5) I added two small flaps with velcro to close the bag
The zippered purse was made using my tutorial (click here to read about it). Again, the only difference is that I added a matching ribbon with a clip.
The key chain? I totally winged it. I found a small wooden frame in the middle of my crafts supplies, which came with a scrap-booking set. I embroidered the initials on some leftover fabric, glued it to the frame (with the ribbon already in place), inserted a bit of polyester filling to add a bit of volume and backed it with gray felt.
This set gave me a bit of additional work, with all the details I decided to add, but overall I'm very satisfied with the result.
Happy Monday!
¡QuĂ© chulo!
