A while ago I made a bet with my husband that I could make onion rings in the oven and that they would be delicious. Well, they really can be. And here's the how to:
Ingredients (1 - 2 servings):
- 1 large onion
- 1 egg
- 5 - 6 tablespoons of bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of fine herbs
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 - 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Instructions:
Peel and cut the onion into rings. Whisk the egg into a bowl and in another bowl mix the bread crumbs with the garlic powder and the fine herbs.
Run each onion ring first through the egg and then through the bread crumb mix. Place in an oven tray.
Once you've done this will all onion rings, season with the salt and the pepper, sprinkle with the olive oil and place in the oven for about 25 - 30 minutes, until the onion rings have turned a nice golden color.
Serve while still warm.
