Embroidery floss bobbins - free printable

Embroidery floss bobbins - free printable

I'm always making an effort to keep things organized (not always successful, but intentions count, right?) and recently I decided to put all my embroidery floss into this neat box:

Each floss is in its own bobbin (bobbins came with the box) and I even managed to organize by color.

Last week, however, my mother gave me the mess below: a box full of floss that belonged to my grandmother but that was screaming for reorganization.

The problem? I ran out of the white cardboard bobbins that came with the first box above.

Solution: make my own.

An so the double sided bobbins came to be. They are useful but also colorful.

Want them too? Download the pdf file here. And if you have any questions about the double-sidedness (is that really a word?) of the bobbins, just follow the simple instructions below:

1. Cut the bobbins following the outside lines

2. Fold along the middle and glue

3. Then cut the rest of excess paper along your original fold. Repeat as many times as you want (or need)

And if you are wondering what is the purpose of the dotted line added on one side of the bobbins, here is your answer: cut along the line and use the slit to secure the edge of the embroidery thread, to avoid unraveling.

Now download the file and enjoy!

  1. What a clever idea, Teresa!!! My embroidery floss is nowhere near as organised as yours. It looks more like your grandmother's.
