Or maybe I should call it the Frankenstein of envelope pouches? This project came about to use up a series of small, irregularly shaped fabric scraps that, for some reason, I decided to save sometime in past.
I cut a rectangle of batting long enough for the envelope shape I wanted. In retrospect, it probably should have been iron-on batting, and that's something I'll remember if I ever decide to repeat this process. As it was, I used regular lightweight quilt batting and just arranged the bits of fabric over it:
I added a drops of fabric glue here and there to keep everything in place (which, again, I could have saved if I'd used iron-on batting...):
And then proceeded to zig-zag stitch all over, to make sure the bits of fabric were joined together:
Then I trimmed the excess fabric a bit and cut a similar sized pieced of fabric for the lining:
And after that, I followed the usual process of sewing an envelope pouch: sewing lining (right sides together, leaving one of the shorter sides of the rectangle open), turning inside out, closing the opening and then folding the rectangle to create the envelope:
Finally, once the pouch was top stitched all around and a set of plastic snaps was added, the mismatched bits of discarded fabric turned into something that can be useful on a daily basis:
Have fun, and Happy Tuesday,
