Hello, and welcome! Lately I've been trying to cut back on sugar as much as possible, so these baked apples are just the perfect dessert. No sugar added, just the natural flavor of the apple, the cinnamon and the citric touch of the lemon or orange juice.
Ingredients (four servings):
- 4 apples (I liked to use reinette apples, but any kind of apple works)
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 4 small slices of lemon or orange peel
- 4 table spoons of lemon or orange juice
- powdered cinnamon to sprinkle over the apples
Instructions:
Wash the apples and remove the core. Insert one cinnamon stick and one slice of lemon or orange peel in each of the core holes.
Pour one table spoon of juice over each apple and then sprinkle with the powdered cinnamon.
Bake at 170ºC for about 25 minutes or until the apple peel cracks and the top of the apples turns slightly golden.
These baked apples can be served still slightly warm from the oven, but then can also be easily stored in the fridge, in an air-tight container, for several days.
