Tote bags and envelope pouches - the last of the Christmas sewing this year

Hello, and welcome! Christmas is almost here, so today I'm sharing here the last of my Christmas sewing that took place over the weekend.

Tote bags and envelope pouches - the last of the Christmas sewing this year

I have all the gifts lined up now (I really dislike last minute shopping and crafting), but I needed a couple of tote bags to carry larger sets of gifts, and also a few gift packages for smaller gifts and gift cards.

The tote bags were made using my 20-minutes lined tote bag tutorial, with some size adjustments. This one is just a regular fabric tote (still in need of some ironing on this photo):

And for this one I used some plastic covered fabric I've had in my stash since forever. It's not the easiest sewing material, but in the end it turned out ok (it's lined with regular fabric, though). I'll be using it to deliver my cousin's kids' gifts:

And then there were the envelope pouches. The process is basically the same as the one I used for the scrappy envelope pouch I posted about a couple of weeks ago, minus the joining of all the small fabric strips together.

This was the first one I made. I used a felt-like material I got a while ago on Amazon. It was supposed to actually be glittery felt, but turned out more plastic than felt, to be honest. In any case, it's still cute and since it doesn't fray, I didn't need to add lining. It was a matter of folding, sewing down both sides and adding the plastic snap.

Since by then I was pressed for time, I decide to teach my daughter to sew these envelope pouches (she's 14 and has been using a kid-sized - and kid-safe - sewing machine for years, but it was her first time using my sewing machine). After that, she managed to sew three pouches  in a row while I was putting away the rest of the unused fabrics (which just proves that this is a perfect project for beginners).

Here are her pouches:

These are all made with regular fabric, lined and then top-stitched all-around.

And the best of all this? They are all reusable packages and were made entirely with items from my stash.

Have fun and happy holidays!
