Hello, and welcome! Today I'm showing off my new tote bag. For a while now I'd been wanting a new one, but nothing I saw in stores really caught my attention - so, of course, I decided to make my own.
The bag itself is constructed using my 20-minutes lined tote bag tutorial, adjusting for the size I wanted.
I added one layer of iron-on batting to both fabrics (exterior fabric and lining) and two pockets inside (one for my keys and another for my phone).
I added a flat bottom, but the real new thing is the magnetic closure. It was my first time adding something like this to my bags, and overall it was a very, very easy process (I'll add a tutorial as soon as I can).
Also, I decided not to sew the handles from the same fabric as the bag, and instead used cotton webbing straps I had in my stash.
Here is the finished bag:
I made this last Saturday morning and have been using it since then - and overall I'm very happy with the results. I have so many great fabrics in my crafts closet that I will definitely repeat the process sometime soon.
