I recently finished cross stitching this kit:
I will be turning it into a pillow sometime soon (I'll share about it here when it's done) but for now I was left with these little pile of yarn bits:
Since I loved the colors, I decided to use them to create a small drawstring pouch. I started by crocheting two squares:
Here's the pattern for the crochet squares:
Row 1: on a magic ring, chain 3, add two double crochets, chain two, *three double crochets, chain two*. Repeat the pattern between * two more times, to create the four sides. Slip stitch to join to the initial 3 chains. Cut the yarn and fasten off. Each side of your square will be made of three double crochets, plus the corners.
Row 2: With a different color, start on any of the corners of the previous row (the two chain "holes" at each corner). chain 3, add three double crochets over the stitches from previous row and one double crochet over the next corner hole, chain two, *one double crochet in the same corner, three double crochets over the stitches from, the previous row, one double crochet on the next corner, chain two*. Repeat the pattern between * two more times, to create the four sides. Slip stitch to join to the initial 3 chains. Cut the yarn and fasten off. Each side of your square will be made of five double crochets, plus the corners.
