To make these baskets you need to cut two pieces of exterior fabric (I upcycled a pair of old jeans) and two pieces of lining fabric (I used cotton fabric leftover from other projects), according to the pattern below:
The measurements above are indicative and will give you a little square basket with sides of approximately 7 cm. If you want your basket bigger or smaller, adjust the measurements proportionally.
One your fabric is cut, place the exterior fabric pieces right sides together and sew the sides and the bottom. Do not sew along the small squares cut off the bottom:
Repeat the process with the lining pieces, but leave a small opening on one of the sides (which will be used to turn the basket inside out at the end).
Now fold the corners of at the bottom of the bag as shown below:
And sew the corners in both the exterior and lining pieces:
This is how it's going to look like at this point:
Now place the lining inside the exterior piece, right sides together:
And sew all around the top. Turn inside out through the opening you left in the lining. Once you're done, hand sew the hole close.
Your little fabric basket is finished. Fold the top downwards to the desired height and put it to use!
If you want, you can also top stitch around the edge before folding it down. It's totally optional and as you can see I skipped that step.
