Hello, and welcome!
If you follow me on Instagram you've probably already seen snippets of this project, but here's the backstory: this year we returned from our summer vacation later than we usually do, which means I had less than a day to prepare for my daughter's birthday. We decided to celebrate just with close family and host a party with her friends later this month, but in any case I wanted her to have a cake.
And since time was limited to properly decorate a cake, we settled on just a topper with her name on it. But cute and blingy, of course.
To make this cake name topper I used a few wood popsicle sticks (three larger ones to hold the letters and a couple of thin, smaller ones to place on the cake), my stash of fake gemstones, a pack of pre-cut wood letters and crafts glue.
I just glued the gemstones over the wood letters to decorate them:
And then glued the letters over the larger popsicle sticks:
First I glued the center popsicle stick, to make sure the letters stayed just the way I wanted them and then, once the glue was dry, I added the two other popsicle sticks. Here's the look, front and back:
The final step was to add the two smaller sticks that actually hold the sign on the cake:
(this is my favorite crafts glue; it's supposed to be for fabrics but works really well on all sorts of materials)
In the end it looked like a farmhouse-meets-bling sign, but my daughter loved it and that's all that matters.
Here's how it looked on the cake. And no, my daughter did not turned five. She actually turned twelve but decided she only wanted five candles on the cake, go figure.
Very pretty! Happiest Birthday Wishes to your daughter!
