Let’s face it: Practicing self-love is easier said than done. In 2022, it’s important that you date yourself and show some love to the most important person in your life — you.
How To Start Dating Yourself
If you’ve found that you are unsure, lack confidence, and are constantly stressed by things outside of your control, it’s time to help yourself to a heaping portion of self-love. Here are some things you can do.
1. Give Yourself the Night Off
Are you burdened with work that needs to be done both inside and outside of your home office? Pick a night of the week where you can turn off your computer once you are done with tasks for the day. Silence notifications on your phone, tidy up your home, pour yourself a nice glass of wine, and eat a dinner that won’t make you feel groggy.
2. Conduct a “State of Myself” Meeting
Introspection is key to self-love and maintaining your mental health. Plan a staycation at a local hotel (or weekend getaway) and take stock of your life. What are the things that you are grateful for? What things can you improve? By jotting these down in your journal or with this template, you can come back to it and recognize your progress at your next “state of myself” meeting.
3. Write Yourself a Love Letter
Love letters aren’t just for secret admirers and pen-pals — they can be for yourself, too! Do this by apologizing to yourself for anything you have done to make yourself feel bad, showing support for your own dreams, and sharing your aspirations and goals. When you’re done, seal it in a cute felt envelope and pull it out when you are feeling low. If this sounds too cringey for you, try filling out this self-love letter printable to get you started.
Now that you know some tips to get you started on dating yourself, put them into action! By filling your life with art, love, music, and movies that make you happy, you will be one step closer to showing yourself the love that you deserve. Download more printables for self-love here.
