Hello, and welcome. Today I'm sharing here a very quick project that's especially useful for the summertime when you need to carry your glasses everywhere but it's better to have a case that fits smaller purses.
Find out how to make it below:
For this project you will need:
- a piece of lightweight cotton canvas. I used one with an approximate size of 60 x 28 cm
- a 30 x 28 cm piece of interfacing
- a plastic snap (a sew-on snap or a bit of velcro also work)
- matching sewing thread
In any case, and since you'll be creating an envelope-style case, make sure your glasses fit before sewing (in the photo below the fabric is folded in half and then folded again to form a sort of an envelope), and don't forget to include the seam allowances:
Since one of the sides is folded, sew all around the other sides, leaving an opening to turn inside out. Turn inside out and sew the opening shut.
Now it's time to create the envelope. Fold one of the sides up and pin in place, as shown below:
Sew the sides, and top stitch the top flap too (this is optional, but I think it makes the glasses case look much better).
Now all you need to do is to add the snap:
Here's how the back of the glasses case will look like:
And that's it. You'll have a cute and useful glasses case in way less time than it took me to write this post:
