Hello, and welcome. Today I'm sharing here a very easy pattern to make crochet flowers with a nice 3-D effect.
These flowers are great to use as embellishments in other projects, to add to bags, brooches, hairbands, ponytail holders and even for original gift wrapping.
Scroll down for the instructions:
I used scraps of cotton yarn and a 2.0 mm hook. You can make the flowers in just one color, use variegated yarn or even mix yarns of different colors.
For the centers of the flowers I used some fake rhinestones (the kind you can get at the dollar store), but buttons or faux pearls work well too.
Row 1: chain 35. Double crochet in the 5th chain from hook. Chain one, double crochet in the same chain. *Skip one chain and add the following in the next chain: double crochet, chain, double crochet*. Repeat the pattern between * until the end of the initial chain.
At the end of row one your work will look like this:
Row 2: turn your work around and, over each of the one chain spaces from previous row, add the following: two double crochets, chain 3, two double crochets. Repeat until the end of the row.
Row 3: turn your work around and add 10 double crochets over the three-chain spaces from the previous row. Slip stitch in the middle of the next four double crochets from the previous row and add 10 more double crochets over the following chain. Repeat until the end of the row.
Cut the yarn and weave in ends. Then, using a needle and a bit of extra yarn, add stitches over the initial chain and pull to gather:
Secure the yarn, cut off excess and your flower is finished. Add whatever you have chosen for the flower center and you're good to go.
Perfect spring project!
