The Bunny Washcloth - free crochet pattern

Hello, and welcome! The week is almost over, but I wanted to share one last Easter project: the bunny washcloth.

The Bunny Washcloth - free crochet pattern

With this free pattern you can create an original washcloth for your kitchen or your bathroom, with a cute Easter design.

Materials:
  • Yarn: 100% cotton yarn in white and light green.
  • Crochet hook: 2.0 mm
Abbreviations (US crochet terms):
  • Ch: Chain
  • Sc: Single crochet
Size:

The washcloth will have an estimated finished size of 18 x 18 cm (different yarns may result in slightly different finished sizes).

General Instructions:

All rows except the first one start with a one-chain. The first chain of a row does not count as a stitch; it is added just to keep borders straight as you work along.
When switching from one yarn to another I like to make the final loop of the last stitch before the switch already with the new yarn. I find it makes the work look a lot neater. The color switches in the coaster shown in the photos were worked this way. However, this is optional and you can make the color switches in the way you feel most confortable with.
The white yarn needs to be carried along in between the green yarn when you are adding the stitches that make up the bunny shape. The green yarn does not need to be carried along except when in between the two bunny ears (where in the same row you have two sections to be made with green yarn with a white section in between – you need to carry along the green yarn while working that white section).

Pattern:

Below is the detailed washcloth pattern. Each square of the scheme below corresponds to a single crochet stitch. Download here a printer friendly version of pattern so that you can have visual guidance of the layout at all times while you are working.

Tutorial:

Start with the white yarn. Ch 47. Add 1 Sc in the second chain from hook and then one Sc over each chain until the end of the row (46 stitches in total). Turn around, chain one and from here on, follow the pattern - remember, each square corresponds to one Sc, and every row is always made of 46 stitches in total, no matter what colors you are working with.

Here are some pictures on the work in progress:

At the end of row 50 your washcloth will be finished. Cut the yarn and weave in ends.

Block your washcloth, if needed (I haven't blocked mine yet and I'm not sure I'll have time to do it before Easter, so I'll probably just use it as is).
