Hello, and welcome to another week! today I'm bringing you a great gift idea for tea lovers: a tea wallet.
Want to make one too?
What you need:
- two pieces of felt, one for the interior and one for the exterior of the wallet. Approximate size: 24 x 15 cm. You can use the same color, or contrasting colors, like I did
- two pieces of felt for the wallet pockets. Approximate size: 24 x 5 cm.
- one button
- a small piece of elastic
- scissors and matching sewing thread
- optional: felt letters spelling TEA and fabric glue
Start by pinning one of the pocket pieces to the inside of your wallet, approximately 4 cm from the bottom edge (as shown below), and sew in place:
Next pin the other pocket piece to the bottom of the wallet (it will overlap with the pocket you've sewn before). Find the center of the wallet and sew from top to bottom (dividing the pockets in half):
Pin the two main wallet pieces together (with the elastic folded in half and tucked between both of them):
Sew all around and trim off any excess felt:
Sew the button in place:
And add the TEA letters in any way you want (glue them in place):
Fill the pockets with the tea of your choice and you're done!
And if you prefer, you can also watch a short video version of this tutorial:
This is a great idea! I am not a tea drinker, but as a coffee drinker, I do bring my own creamers sometimes because I like the flavored ones and not every restaurant carries them, so I can see a tea drinker might want to bring their own tea with them to ensure they get something they would enjoy.

Yes, I have a friend who loves to take her tea everywhere, including the office, so I made this with her in mind. I'm making more for family, though, as they make cute gifts.
DeleteThank you for stopping by Alexandra!
I love this idea. I have a friend who only drinks decaf and back in those days when we could meet in cafes she would always bring her own bags in a little container. She would love a fancy wallet for them! This will be a feature over at Handmade Monday later today :-)
