This past weekend we finally had a break from the rain and the fog and we started to see the first signs that spring is on the way - so I had to come up with a quick spring project.
I decided a new pincushion was just the perfect idea, especially since it should (hopefully) contribute to a better organisation of my sewing table...
This is actually a very easy project and comes together in next to nothing.
What you need:
- Two squares of felt (mine were about 11 x 11 cm) and the makings for a felt flower (cut using my Sizzix, but you can just as easily print a flower shape of the internet and use it as a pattern).
- Matching sewing thread
- Bits of polyester filling
How to:
First sew the flower to one of the felt squares.
I debated on whether to sew or glue the flower. Gluing would be faster, but since using glue could create difficulties later with pushing pins through the glued parts, I opted for sewing instead:
Then join the two squares of felt together with a blanket stitch all around. leaving just a small opening:
Add the polyester filling:
And sew the opening shut (with the same blanket stitch you used for the rest of the pincushion):
And that's it! Now you have a brand new spring pincushion!
Happy Monday!
Such a pretty design! And a perfect starter project and scrapbusting idea!
