I'm not that much of a knitter but I do own a few pairs of needles. Recently I was going through my craft supplies storage and noticed the needles were spread around, a few of them at risk of getting lost.
So I decided to make a knitting needles cozy.
Find out how below.
Materials needed:
- One long piece of felt - mine was 48 x 10 cm but if you own a lot of needles or want to sew individual compartments for them you may want to increase the width.
- One smaller piece of felt - again, mine was sized 35 x 10 cm (which will be approximately the size of the cozy when closed)
- One button
- Matching sewing thread.
Instructions:
Lay the two pieces of felt one on top of the other (bottoms lined up) and pin in place.
Sew down the sides and the bottom. I used my sewing machine but hand stitching works fine too - or you can just use fabric glue for a no-sew version.
Sew the button in place and then cut a slit in the flap to serve as a button hole.
And that's it. In less than 10 minutes you will have made your own knitting needles cozy.
In case you want to keep each pair or needles separate you can increase the width of the cozy a bit and sew vertical lines from top to bottom, creating smaller compartments.
Teresa, sometimes it is the simple projects that are the most useful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your DIY knitting needle cozy at the Create, Bake, Grow & Gather party this week. I'm delighted to be featuring it at tomorrow night's party and pinning too.
