Hello, and welcome. Today I'm showing off another of my long-time-coming projects: the night and day cloud pouches.
After seeing some cloud zipper purses on Pinterest a while ago, I knew I wanted to make my own. I just never thought it would take so long to get round to actually do it.
First I had to draft a pattern, and that wasn't easy from the start. Here are a few of my attempts (free handing the shape, and halfway through the night to be able to work uninterrupted...):
When I finally settled on a pattern, then I got down to sewing. Here's a small tutorial:
What you need:
How to do it:
At this point you already have a cloud zipper pouch, you just need to embellish it. Because I chose the night and day theme, I added a moon and stars on the dark blue pouch (all glued, and on both sides on the pouch):
(sorry, no pattern for the moon and stars because I cut them using my Sizzix - but you can either freehand them or print shapes you find online and use them as a pattern).
For the "day" pouch, I opted to cut a large yellow circle and glue it in place before sewing the sides (because I wanted part of the "sun" included in the side seam):
And then all I had to do was to sew it in exactly the same way as the other. Once this was done, I cut the sun rays by hand and glued them in place too:
And here they are together, the night and day pouches.
Happy Wednesday and stay safe,

When I finally settled on a pattern, then I got down to sewing. Here's a small tutorial:
What you need:
- the pattern (download here)
- felt in light blue and dark blue for each of the purses
- matching zippers
- smaller bits of felt in gray, dark yellow and light yellow
How to do it:
For each purse, cut two pieces of felt from the pattern.
Pin each piece of felt to the sides of the zipper and top stitch in place:
Then fold right sides together and sew all around (just make sure you leave the zipper half open, to be able to turn it inside out).
By now it should look like this:
