Hello, and welcome. I'm back today with this week's Thursday Throwdown: beach vs. forest.
Which is your favorite?
Mine is the beach. Maybe it's because for as long as I remember I have always lived 10 minutes away from the ocean. From the several homes my parents moved into to the two apartments we've owned since getting married, the beach has been a constant companion and I seriously can't imagine my life without it.
This being said, I also love the forest. But Portugal is a small country so forests are few and far in between and, to be honest, wherever you go there's always a house or a road, or even a windfarm, close by. There's rarely that feel of open wide nature that I get from looking at the ocean.
Because I love the beach but I hate crowds, my favorite time of the year to go to the beach is actually the fall/late winter/early spring, when I have a long strip of sand all to myself and very few other people around. And especially now, when we are all stuck at home and can't leave the house except for grocery shopping and little else, I'm really missing the view of the sea and sand. Hopefully soon.
