Thursday Throwdown: cats vs. dogs

This week's Thursday Throwdown theme is cats vs dogs.

Thursday Throwdown: cats vs. dogs

And about that, I have a funny story to tell.

I'm a cat person and always have been. My parents were not very much into having pets when I was a kid, but we did have one cat and I still have fond memories of her today, even though we lost her over thirty years ago.

My husband is more of a dogs lover. So you see we are a great match :)

Don't get me wrong. I love dogs - but I much prefer them in someone else's' house.

I never saw myself as a dog owner and frankly the idea of having to walk a dog several times a day does not make me happy. Besides, we don't have a backyard (or a font yard, for that matter) and leaving a dog alone in an apartment while we go to work and the kids are in school just wouldn't work.

So...when one loves cats and the other loves dogs, what do you do? Well, you get a bunny!

Meet Fluffy:

Fluffy (aptly named by my kids) has been with us for two and a half years now. She was supposed to be a dwarf bunny, but somewhere along her genetic line she must have had an ancestor who definitely was not a dwarf. Which means that Fluffy is now bigger than my cat ever was and we even had to buy her a larger cage last year.

She's terribly funny and very obedient. She always obeys my commands - unless I'm telling her not to chew the kitchen table and chairs. In that situation, she chooses to pretend she can't hear me.

The downside is that she doesn't really like to be randomly petted or cuddled, and we engage in a full blow war every time we have to take her to the vet.

But overall, she was a great compromise for us.

  1. Such a cute bunny! :) I use to have a lionhead and a Holland lops. They made really cute babies! Some of them had floppy ears, others had the short pointed ears of a lionhead, and others had mixed.
