DIY Play Felt Band-Aids

Hello, and welcome. What's happening in the world today is taking a toll on all of us, kids included. Lately most of my daughter's play ideas all revolve around creating hospitals for dolls and stuffed animals and taking care of them.

She took out a medical play set from her toys closet and promptly told me there was something very important missing: band-aids. Preferably in different colors.

DIY Play Felt Band-Aids

As we are all stuck at home and I need crafty inspiration anyway, we searched through my pile of felt scraps for the colors she wanted and I got down to business making play felt band-aids.

And here's a small tutorial in case you want to make some for your kids too.

Materials needed:
  • a pattern - you can download my pattern or you can just trace a real band aid to make your own. Adjust sizes if you want.
  • felt in assorted colors (use felt scraps if you have them, they are great for this)
  • small pieces of white felt
  • white sewing thread (optional)
  • embroidery floss in the same colors of the felt you are using (optional)

    Instructions:

Cut the felt according to the pattern. If you want to embroider a rectangle in the center of the band-aid and some dots, to make it look more real, use embroidery floss in a matching color.

Then sew of glue the white rectangle of felt in place (personally I prefer to sew because the kids are going to bend these play band-aids a lot and the glued parts are more likely to come off if that happens).

Now make a whole batch of colorful band-aids and let your kids have fun with them.

    Happy Wednesday!

    2. These are so cute!! My daughter used to go through Band-Aids like they were nothing, even though she didn't even have a scratch. She would have loved these when she was little! And they would have saved me some money.

      1. I think they all go through that phase. Once my son placed a band aid over a small hole in our hardwood floor because he thought it would solve the issue...
