Hello and welcome to another week. Following up on my New Year's resolution of sharing more eco-friendly posts in 2020, and right after the DIY cloth napkins, today I'm showing you how you can easily make reusable kitchen towels.
So, if you want to forego paper towels and reduce the waste in your kitchen, get yourself some cute fabric and sew reusable kitchen towels.
What you will need for each towel:
- one square of 25 x 25 cm of fabric (I recommend cotton or at least a poly-cotton blend). As you will be washing your kitchen towels often and you want them to last, it's better to pre-wash your fabric first to to make sure that it doesn't shrink and that the colors don't bleed.
- one square of 25 x 25 cm of terry cloth
- matching sewing thread
Here's the how to:
Place the fabric over the terry cloth, right sides together, and pin all around.
Sew around the four sides, leaving just a small opening:
Turn inside out. It may look a but wonky by now, but it will all straighten out once you iron it.
Top stitch all around, closing the opening.
And there you have it: one quick and easy way to make reusable kitchen towels. Choose a fabric that matches your kitchen decor, or use scraps and mix patterns like I did. Now sew several more of these and you will never need to buy paper towels again.
Such a wonderful way to reduce waste. Thank you for sharing at Party In Your PJ's.
