DIY Felt Crown

I've been making felt crowns for my daughter and her friends for several years now. In addition to being a cute gift or party favor, it's also a great way to keep girls entertained if you put them in charge of decorating their crowns.

To be honest, this was probably not the best one to make a tutorial of, as it's white and not as colorful as some of the others I've made in the past.

In addition, the pieces of felt I had on hand were too small and I needed to add a seam in the middle.

But in any case, here's the tutorial:

I started with a square of felt with 30x30 cm and cut it in half.

I free handed the design, but if you don't want to do it, you can search Pinterest or Google for a pattern, there are lots of free ones available.

If you're able to cut the pattern out of a single piece of felt, fold it in half beforehand, to get a symmetrical cut. Otherwise, you'll have two separate pieces like me:

I joined the two pieces together and added an elastic on one of the back edges.

After testing the crown on the head if its recipient to make sure the dimensions were correct, I cut the elastic to size and sewed it to the other end of the crown, to close the circle.

Then I let my daughter decorate the crown herself:

Initially I wasn't very happy with the seam in the middle, but after a while it kind of grew on me. And as long as the crown's owner is happy, I'm happy too.

And with this tutorial you can easily make a boy version of the crown too, so boys are not left out.

Have fun, and happy Tuesday!
