The perfect printables for your next camping trip

Summer is the perfect season for camping, but if you have picky kids like mine you need all the help you can get to distract them from the ants, the flies, the dust and whatever else they find to complain about. These printables are just perfect to get your kids excited for the next camping trip!

Catching fireflies, roasting gooey marshmallows and telling old family stories are popular night camping activities. Some of these memories will last a lifetime and have minimal expenses attached. And this is what makes camping a great travel option for families - not to mention that it's also lighter on the budget.

When it comes to traveling the little ones, challenges naturally arise. One challenge that most parents experience is keeping kids entertained and engaged. The classic “Are we there yet?” and “I’m bored” statements are bound to arise at least once on the adventure.

Summer camping games and themed printables are a great solution to keeping your kids entertained and out of your hair. CarRentals put together 14 summer camping games for kids complete with custom with printables to help make your job as a parent a little easier. Some of the printables that are great for the car ride include the “Summer Camp Out Word Search” and the “My Camping Journal”.

The word search helps foster creative thinking even when school’s out. The CarRentals printables use camping-themed keywords organized in a challenging manner. This promotes critical thinking and keeps your child occupied for at least a portion of the car ride.

The camping journal printable is an excellent way for your kids to practice their writing and observation skills, and will make some great memories to go through the rest of the year. Print out at least one page per day, so your child can document their entire experience.

Other printables include an animal tracks explorer and mock campsite setup for the kids that aren’t old enough to help with the camping setup.

More printables and camping games for kids can be printed directly from this post. Remember to drive safe and enjoy your time in the good ol’ outdoors!

Happy Tuesday, and happy summer!

  1. Last year under the recommendation of my friends, we rented an SUV through EasyRentCars to take our family road trip in Ireland. We drove to the foot of the mountain and started camping. It was a wonderful night and the children had a good time.
