Hello, and welcome. Today I'm sharing two sweet bunny softies. I made them a couple of months ago as a gift for my cousin's baby girl and now I have finally finished drafting the pattern and putting together a tutorial.
They are really very easy to make. All you need is some cute fabric and a little bit of time, and you can create a lovely homemade gift.
Materials needed (for each bunny):
- the pattern - download here
- fabric for the bunny and matching sewing thread
- one pompom for the tail
- polyester filling
- two eyes - I opted to cut the eyes out of felt and sew them on, but you can also use buttons, store bought eyes, etc. For safety reasons, adjust depending on the age of the child you are making the bunny for
- a piece of ribbon to tie a bow around the bunny's neck (optional)

Instructions:
Download and print the pattern. As you can see in the photos, I made two bunnies in different sizes. The smaller one was cut directly from the pattern you will find on the pdf, just adding seam allowances. For the larger bunny I enlarged the pattern by 150% but then did not include additional seam allowances.
Place the pattern over the fabric and cut two pieces. If your fabric has a right and a wrong side, don't forget to turn the pattern over to get a front and a back for the body of the bunny.
Place the two fabric pieces one on top of the other, right sides together and sew all around, leaving a small opening to pass the polyester filling through. As you're going to add a pompom over the tail of the bunny, that's the most obvious place to leave an opening, because your stitches to close it will be hidden by the pompom.
Trim the excess fabric and turn inside out.
Fill with polyester and close the opening. Sew or glue the pompom tail and the eyes.
