Lined crochet summer purse

Today I decided to show you the crochet purse I finished a couple of weeks ago. I find crochet a very soothing hobby, so I always wonder why I don't crochet more often. I guess the answer is that I just don't have enough time to fit in everything. This purse, however, is so quick to make that you can finish it in an afternoon.

I didn't exactly write a pattern because I just made it up as I went along - but then it's so simple that no pattern is really required.

The whole purse is made out of a a rectangle of single crochet rows and the only break in this pattern is the hole for the button (which you create by replacing the single crochet with a few chains in one row and then returning to the single crochet on the next row. ´

Once I had a long enough rectangle, I folded it over and joined the sides of the purse.

Then came the time to add liming. Lining is obviously optional, as the purse can be perfectly used without it. But it looks better and more polished with the lining.

I used my sewing machine to sew the sides of the lining piece (which is a rectangle of fabric cut to fit the inside of the purse, folded in half) but then decided hand sewing was better to attach the lining to the purse.

The strap was made with rolled up cord (crochet chains could work too) and I added a tassel on each side just for a fun, summery look.

Oh, and of course I added a cute button too...

All in all, it took me just a couple of hours to create and assemble it, and now I have a new purse to wear all summer long.

  2. It's lovely, the lining is worth it isn't it, just helps a bag keep it's shape.
