Remember when I told you about our new pet bunny and how my son decided he wanted a bunny themed birthday party this year? Well, in addition to creating a bunny t-shirt I also made a bunny garland to decorate our dining room.
Some time ago I had found the disposable table cover below at our local Aldi.
This was long before we even thought about getting a real live bunny, but because my son always loved bunnies, I thought it would be fun to use the table cover for his birthday party. Then everything else started to come together and I decided to make a bunny garland to match the table cover.
The bunnies were cut from felt using my Sizzix bunny die cut. If I had more time, I would have probably cut carrot shapes to go with them, but as I was a bit pressed to finish the garland, I just went with orange and green circles to match the colors of the table cover.
Here is the garland in the making:
To make things as easy as possible, I glued all the felt pieces onto a long ribbon.
The eyes in the bunnies are the glue on variety you can get at most craft stores and the tail pom-poms are just glued as well.
As a finishing detail, I added two smaller felt circles at each end of the ribbon.
We left the garland in place for over a week after the party, but I removed it yesterday and now my son says he wants it in his room instead.
So overall, I count it as a success: it was quick and easy to make, and everything I used came from my stash, so it was pretty inexpensive too.
Happy Monday,
Such a cute idea!
