Yes, it's known that whenever possible I try to wrap my gifts in re-usable bags or to use upcycled packages. Along the years I've made a few of those.
I've sewn bags, such as the lined burlap gift bags...
...I've turned cereal boxes into gift bags...
...and I've simply embellished plain boxes to re-use them as gift packages:
This year I've also created a few fabric gift bags to wrap smaller gifts.
I followed the re-usable gift bags tutorial I posted here last year.
I used only fabric and ribbon scraps and then added a few embellishments along the way.
Because you are using scraps this is a very inexpensive way to wrap gifts, and eco-friendly too. Just think of all that paper that will not go to waste because you're using these instead. And then recipients can re-use them too along the years.
And you can adjust each individual bag to the size of the gifts you'll be putting inside, So you'll have a much better fit than any store bought bag can give you. And they also look a bit like Santa's bag once they're full.
Here are the two I've made so far, with tags on and ready to find new owners. I'll probably sew a few more during this week, but since they come together pretty quickly, this is one project where I don't feel pressed for time.
