January 2016 marks the second anniversary of my blog.
I've seriously come a long way ever since those first few posts. Basically, at the beginning, I had really no idea of what I was doing and I had to learn everything from scratch.
While balancing marriage, children, a full time job and two blogs isn't easy, blogging is something that brings me fulfillment, so I certainly want to keep it going. It's my me-time in an otherwise very busy life.
But just as life evolves, the blog also needs to evolve, and I'm ready to embrace new challenges.
So, in 2016, there will be two main changes to the blog: the addition of a weekly link party and a new roundup series.
The Really Crafty Link Party will be launched hopefully on the second Monday of January. It will run in a format very similar to the Holidays Celebration Link Party of last month, from Monday to Thursday and while it will be mostly a no-rules linkup, my main focus is crafts, so only crafts, DIYs, recipes and similar posts will get a chance to be featured.
The No Clutter in 2015 series was very useful to me throughout last year, but now it's time for retirement. This doesn't mean that will not continue to actively declutter my house and my life, and I may even publish some decluttering tips & tricks here and there, but no longer on a fixed schedule.
Instead, I'm refocusing the blog onto its initial purpose: crafts. I'm creating a new series of roundups, the ABC of crafts. Every week I will select a series of 5 blog posts on a certain subject and feature them. The subjects will follow the letters of the alphabet, hence the name: ABC crafts. I will publish the full list of themes on a separate blog post.
In addition to the Really Crafty Link Party and the ABC of Crafts series, I will obviously be posting my own crafts, DIYs and tutorials, as I find the time to make and blog about them. I'm still debating on whether to keep or discontinue the (Almost) Wordless Wednesday posts. For now, I'm keeping them, but the truth is that worrying about having photos to publish every Wednesday takes a toll on my already very stretched schedule, especially since photography is not something that comes naturally to me. We'll see as the year progresses.
And that's it. There were a lot more things I would love to do with the blog, but I clearly recognize that my time is limited and I cannot commit to anything else for now. Let's see if everything I planned works out in 2016 and then I may introduce additional challenges.
How about you? What are your goals and challenges for 2016?
Happy New Year,
I can't wait to see the crafts! When I first stated blogging I was initially going to be just crafts but then I decided I wanted to do lifestyle posts too. Good luck with your blog!
