I finally finished the June scraps of yarn mystery blanket crochet along!
I'm aware that we are already a couple of days into July and this was supposed to be a June challenge, but I was not able to finish the border (part 4 of the crochet along) before yesterday night.
Well, the mystery is finally unraveled and the result is a cute square blanket, measuring about 60 x 60 cm, totally made using various scraps of yarn.
I gave it to my daughter because she loves to have lots of blankets or throws to cuddle with during the colders months, though I'm thinking it will also be useful to take in the car with us in the winter. It seems to be just the right size.
I really enjoyed this challenge (thank you Joanita!), even more than last month's (check it here). I find crocheting a really relaxing hobby, and it's easy to take work in progress with me when I go to the park with the kids, to visit the in-laws or even to the beach (as opposed to sewing, for example).
But I rarely feel compelled to start new crochet projects. Unless it's for something I really need to make, I browse through a lot of patterns and never seem to pick one to start working. These challenges, especially since they come split into simple weekly tasks, are just the perfect excuse to crochet something (and actually finish it!).
If you want to take part in these challenges too, head on over to Creative Crochet Toys to check out the patterns. There is a new challenge up and running for July already (it's a mystery!) and I'm going go for it, as soon as I can raid my mom's closet for more scraps.
This time I'll try to use the same type of yarn all over, as opposed to what happened in June, to see if I can get a more perfect finishing.
In the meantime, enjoy your weekend (and if you're in the US, have a wonderful 4th of July tomorrow)!
