How to Transfer an Embroidery Pattern onto an Already-Made Bag

Remember the cupcake embroidery pattern I shared last week? (find it here, in case you missed it before). I embroidered it directly on an already existing fabric gift bag and the fact is that embroidering an already-made bag may be a lovely way to give it a personal touch—but transferring the design can be a little trickier than working with a flat piece of fabric. It means, for example, that my tried and true method of outlining the pattern against a window pane doesn't really work...

How to Transfer an Embroidery Pattern onto an Already-Made Bag

So here are a couple of alternatives for pattern transfer when you're embroidering onto a bag or a thicker piece of fabric.

How to Upcycle Old Candles

Do you have half-burned candles, wax stuck at the bottom of jars, or scents you no longer use? Instead of throwing them away, upcycle them into something useful. It is an easy way to reduce waste, save money, and get creative at home.

Give leftover wax a second life with a few simple ideas:

Grandma's Cake {recipe}

Hello, and welcome! If you follow me on IG you've probably already seen a photo of this cake. I made it at the last minute for my daughter's 16th birthday - we spent all day out of the house and when we returned in the evening she wanted a cake (with candles to blow) just for the four of us, and I needed to whip up something quickly.

Grandma's Cake {recipe}

This is one of my mother's old recipes, is very quick and easy to make and always turns out well. It's an old fashioned basic cake, but sometimes the simple things are the best.

And there's nothing quite like curling up under a handmade crochet blanket. Whether you're making a baby blanket, a cozy throw, or a king-size masterpiece, choosing the right yarn is one of the first decisions you'll need to make.

The Best Types of Yarn for Crochet Blankets: A Beginner's Guide

The best yarn for your project depends on who the blanket is for, how often it will be used, and how much care you're willing to put into it. So let's explore the most popular yarn types and their pros and cons.

Friday Favorites: Galerie Magazine

Hello, and welcome! It's been a while since I've shared one of these posts, but I wanted to mention here another of my favorite sites/magazines: Galerie Magazine.

Friday Favorites: Galerie Magazine

If you love beautiful homes, inspiring interiors, and incredible art, Galerie Magazine is worth checking out, as it brings together the best in design, architecture, and beautiful living. I may never have the chance to live or even visit one of those houses, but I still love looking at them. There isn't such a thing as too much inspiration, is there?

Easy & Cute DIY Bookmark

...made with leftover cardstock, stickers and embroidery floss...

Easy & Cute DIY Bookmark

While these days I mostly read on my Kindle, my kids (especially my daughter) read a lot of physical books every summer and always like to have "special" bookmarks for them.

The Really Crafty Link Party is taking a short break!

It's Monday again, and I'm very glad you're visiting, but I will not be hosting the party this week as we are taking a short summer break before school (and work) starts again.

I still have some posts scheduled on the blog, but I will be focusing mostly on my family over the next couple of weeks.

10 Mid-Century Modern Etsy Finds That Will Transform Your Home

If you've been visiting a while you already know I'm a big fan of mid-century modern architecture and decor.

So I decided to go though all my Etsy favorites and pick the best mid-century modern finds (in my opinion, of course). Some of them are actual vintage/restored pieces, while others are made by independent designers and artists that create pieces inspired by the timeless style of the 1950s and 60s—combining clean lines, warm woods, playful colors, and functional design.

Whether you're decorating an entire home or simply adding a statement piece, these ten Etsy finds perfectly capture everything that makes mid-century modern interiors so amazing.

August - free cross stitch pattern

Hello, and welcome to this week's free cross stitch pattern. Since I created a design for July (find it here), I decided to follow the same style and have one for August too. Am I going to turn this into a series for every month of the year? Maybe, I still don't know yet.

August - free cross stitch pattern

Having all the months similar is cute, but maybe also a bit boring? Let's see if inspiration strikes in September and I change it a bit...
